Amateurpelgrim Tosca Niterink en haar dans- en wandelpartner Anita Janssen (Annie voor intimi) liepen, gewapend met potlood, papier en zwaar camerageschut, de ‘zilverroute’. Een 1200 kilometer lange uitputtingsslag die begint in Granada en dwars door het barre, eenzame, verzengend hete Spanje omhoog klimt naar Santiago.
Klimmen naar kruishoogte is het adembenemende, persoonlijke, doldrieste en zeer filosofische verslag van deze uitputtende voetreis, die voerde langs bergen en dalen, met potloodventers, zonnebrilnegers en andere vreemde types.
